Off To…..

i am off to work today, but have no fear i will be back at my sewing machine this afternoon once i get home. yesterday after work i sewed up a cute little purse that i will share with you on my next post. i have plans to make another bag and work on some other projects tonight.

my neighbors are having a “man shower” tonight – whats a “man shower”? – i asked the same thing. they are expecting a baby and since she got a baby shower he is having a “man shower” which in my book = a big party. so i am sure i will be up late tonight as well.
********
last night i hung out with my Renegades and we had dinner at Denise’s (thanks) & great conversation about everything – recent vacations, life, work and of course sewing. when i got home last night i was thinking about my trip to St John & since i have no sewing related pics for this post i decided to share another photo from my vacation. enjoy!

Its Finally Done…….

its finally done…………
my Pumpkins Gone Wild quilt which is the pattern Strip Search which i started in the fall of 2008 is FINALLY finished……….
i bought the jelly roll & fabric when i was on a trip to Tennessee in 2008
i quilted it myself & had several issues along the way – hence the amount of time it took me to finish it. i also hand sewed the binding on which i pretty much never do, but it didn’t take long & i think it looks better so i will probably be doing that from here on out
i hung the quilt on my sewing room wall for this horrible pic & i have decided to leave it there for the time being…
i also quilted up my Make Life table runner
which i really love…
made the 1st block for the p&b star sampler quilt along i am doing
Audrey from {pickles & bacon} is doing this – go check it out and join us


& i made the 8th block for the Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along i am doing

next up for me will be a few bags

It Was Another

it was another super sewing weekend for me. i got a lot accomplished but you know how it goes i still have a lot to do……..
anyways, i finished signing all 101 of my siggy blocks for the Modern Siggy Swap
made another block for my block swap i belong to
finished up the quilting and binding on this quilt for Downy Quilts For Kids


made this block for the Sister’s Outdoor Quilt Show block challenge
the black & white is their fabric & i added the green
i am in love with circles right now
made this ‘who who’ bag for my niece for her birthday
she turned 2 the end of May & we are having her party in a week when they are in town i am going to fill the bag with bubbles, books & other fun summer time toys

i finally got the binding on my Pumpkins Gone Wild quilt & believe it or not i am going to be hand sewing it on….. i know….. way out of the norm for me but i am expanding my skills & challenging myself more… see its not a bad thing
at least that’s what i am telling myself

i also got this table runner ready to quilt – which i hope to get to later this week

also this weekend i joined a sewing bee called Bee Splendid which i am super excited about. Karrie from Freckled Whimsy is leading it. i have never been involved in a online bee & i am looking forward to it. THANKS Karrie!
oh, & i am also doing another quilt along. this one is with Audrey from {pickles & bacon} and its a star sampler so stay tuned for pics of those blocks.

i am headed to Spokane this week to see the doc again but i know i will get some sewing done some how this week.

my to do list is long & there are only so many hours in a day (heavy sigh)
last night i finished up the quilting & binding on a charity quilt that’s in the wash right now – pics of that later

i need to sew a block for the Sister’s Outdoor Quilt Show block challenge
get the “who who” bag sewed up for my niece’s birthday
sew up a block for our block swap group
start signing 101 siggy blocks for that swap
get the binding on my pumpkins gone wild quilt (my oldest wip)
quilt the table runner that i made Friday night
oh & get started on a bag to donate to a fundraiser that my mom volunteered me for – thanks mom!

like i said lots on the list but not enough hours in the day but i am going to give it one heck of a shot!!!

I’m In Love

i’m in love with my new EQ7 software
i am like a giddy little school girl
i watched a couple of the how to videos that came right with the software & i was off to create something using the pinwheels that i made the wrong size for another project
well
this is what i came up with – just a general idea of where i was going & the coloring is off but it was my 1st project on EQ7 & so i went with it
i sewed it up last night & this is how it turned out
i love it!
its made with Make Life scraps & wrong size blocks from my Pinwheel Sampler quilt that i have been working on
i seriously think EQ7 is the greatest thing
in fact i am thinking of not going to work today so i can stay home and play…

Mini Pinwheels

i finished the 25 mini pinwheels

these are going to be the cornerstones in my Pinwheel Sampler quilt that i did via a quilt-along with Rachel from ps i quilt

i love how the blocks have turned out and can’t wait to get the top together

if you read my earlier post regarding these pinwheels then you know that these are my 2nd attempt at the mini pinwheels. i have been playing with my new EQ7 software to use the 1st pinwheels in a table runner – i will keep you posted on to how that turns out.

Past Weekend

this past weekend was a productive one for me and not only in the sewing department
with it being Memorial Day i visited around 25 graves of family members
planted my garden and go caught up on house work

then came the sew-a-thon
i made the above block which is for a block swap i am in


i made the 12th & final block in the Fat Quarter Shop Mystery Block of the month
now i get to start putting it together with the setting kit below


i made block 6 for the Jelly Roll Quilt Along

as well as block 7 for it


then came the hexi blocks for jaybirds quilt along

even more hexi’s


not done yet – more hexi’s

finally, the end of the hexi’s
i am ready for the finishing directions now
can’t wait to see this quilt come together


then i sewed up 101 blocks for the modern siggy swap that i am doing

now i get to sign them all…..


lastly i got started on the 25 mini pinwheels for the pinwheel sampler i did
this was my 2nd go at them the 1st ones came out the wrong size
live & learn right?

A Little Of This & A Lot Of That

i WON again!!!!
i could not believe it when i got the email from Mary Hartmann Bowden telling me that i was the winner of EQ7 that was givin away on her blog http://mequilter.blogspot.com/

i was like a giddy little school girl when i found out i won EQ it has been on my wish list for sometime now

because of my crazy schedule these past few weeks i just got it loaded on the laptop yesterday & have plans to spend sometime with it over the 3 day weekend

now for the “a lot of that” part of this post
my weekend sewing to do list
1. start my modern siggy swap blocks only 101 to make
i am using Neptune bcuz i love it

2. make my last block from the Fat Quarter Shop Designer Mystery Block of the Month then i can start putting the top together


3. sew up a block swap block
4. get caught up on the Hexigon quilt along that jaybird is doing
5. finish up some quilting on an old wip
6. make a new book bag for my niece for her birthday
7. work on my 25 mini pinwheels for my pinwheel sampler quilt along quilt
and many other misc projects to start or work on

now for the major “A LOT OF THAT”
about a month and 1/2 ago i made a large fabric purchase – large for me – i bought yardage of the whole Make Life line & i didn’t even feel bad about it, but i made a deal with myself
fabric purchases would be kept to a minimum between then and my annual trip to Sisters
needless to say that did not last long

i went to Spokane this week for meetings and a doc apt and came home with this

2 charm packs, a jelly roll and some yardage – no idea what i am going to do with it but i love it

poked some buttons on my laptop and the yardage above showed up at my house this week
Piece N Quilt was having a sale – what can i say? and some of it is Make Life…

these 2 came from my Spokane trip – plans to make a bag with them

So during these past few weeks there has been a little winning going on and a LOT of projects to do and purchases made

Back to life……..

back to life…. back to reality….
yep – back from vacation yesterday morning way early so…..
yesterday was pretty much a waste
the Virgin Islands was awesome & i plan to go back

St John in the Virgin Islands is amazing but this pic goes to show
that you are never to far from home
this day we sailed to Jost Van Dyke which is in the British Virgin Islands and went to this great BBQ joint which had signs/t-shirts from everywhere and this was one of them
some of my family has a vacation home in McCall, Idaho which is about 3 hrs from me
i got there a few times each year to sew with friends

after such an amazing trip its hard to get back into the swing of things……
but, off to work today when its quiet to get some stuff done
then tomorrow will be spent sewing and doing house stuff
where ever you are i hope you have a great weekend!
