CONFIRMED

Confirmed
to me right now there is no better word.
my fav Dave Matthews & his buddy Tim Reynolds are playing 2 nights in Seattle & i got confirmed for both nights. tickets don’t go on sale to the public until tomorrow but because i am a total dork & a member of the fan club we got an early shot at the tickets. i am crazy surprised that i got tickets for 1 night let alone to both nights. they are playing in McCaw Hall which holds roughly 2,900 people. by far the smallest venue i will have seen Dave in. both shows will be benefit concerts with us the concert-goers picking the charity that we would like our money to go to. leave it to Dave to come up with a great way to support numerous causes.
so, December 6th & 7th i will be in Seattle with my BFF Shelly for our 1st Dave show together – ever – hard to believe right????
November has been off to a rough start for me but this news, this silver lining makes me think that things are going to start turning around for me. at the end of these shows i will have seen Dave 8 times this year – a record for me but since he is not touring next year i think its totally worth it. i know, i know some may think i am crazy, insane, whacked out of my mind, but i don’t care. this is what makes me happy.
are you doing what makes you happy?

ps-there is a great giveaway going on over at everyday beautiful’s blog – go check it out!!!!

The Colton Silo Project

not what you would normally see from me on my blog – right???
last night i was at a board meeting for The Dahmen Barn & at that board meeting there was discussion about a grain silo that my Grandfather & Great Uncle built in Colton, WA. there is a group of WSU architecture graduate students that have spent some time at the silo & now the silo is looked at as a piece of art & an educational piece. of course, my Grandfather & Great Uncle would have never called it that. to them it would be simply ‘a grain bin’.
The Colton Silo Project as it is called by these students is very interesting to check out & a different way of looking at a ‘grain bin’. below is a video of pictures taken every 30 seconds over a 24 hour period looking out through the top of the silo.

i found this video to very interesting just to watch it & think what all takes place in 24 hours of our lives as the sky above us changes.

this is the front of the invitation that the students have put together for an event at the silo this coming weekend. i love how they have set the silo in a harvested field & have the people looking at it.

********
i am also very proud of my Grandfather & Great Uncle to know that even though they are no longer with us the work they did years ago is admired & appreciated by people today.

Leaves

yesterday when i got home from a wonderful (not) day at work i realized that i needed to get some yard work done. so i mowed and raked & did the fall yard work that needed to be done. however, i did pause to notice the color of the leaves that are still on my front tree. i know that eventually i will be saying bad words under my breath about these leaves as i rake them up but for now i think that they are pretty.

ENJOY YOUR DAY!!!!

Bye Bye Candy Corn

we all have a weak spot when it comes to candy right? those that say ‘no’ are just not being honest. usually me & sweets don’t get along. too much sugar = major headache for me. however, when it comes to candy corn i can’t get enough of it. headache or not. i eat, eat, eat, & then i eat some more candy corn. its rather sad how much i eat of the stuff this time of the year. if i would have to guess how many bags i would say somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 to 5 bags this year….. maybe even 6.

********

so, when Halloween was over i was done with candy corn. i was happy about it because i don’t need to eat anymore of it. then i got to work yesterday morning and someone had put a left over bag of it on my desk. what was i to do?????

yep, you guessed it…..

I ATE IT!!!!! the whole thing.

i can officially say that i am done with candy corn for the year. i don’t know what it is about it. the pure sugar. the bright colors. the soft texture. i have no idea. maybe i need therapy.

so bye bye candy corn.

until we meet again next year.

NaBloPoMo

Wow!!!! whats that i thought when i read it on Karrie’s blog? so, i did some investigating and decided to participate.

NaBloPoMo stands for National Blog Posting Month & the challenge it to post something on your blog each day for the month of November. at 1st i wasn’t to interested but the more i thought about it i thought ‘why not’?
********

so, this is my 1st of what should be 30 posts for this month. i do have some traveling to do during November but i will have that all figured out when the time comes.
speaking of time….. where the heck did January thru October go? if you know would you please tell me. i would seriously like the month of May back right now. its cold, windy & rainy outside today and i would rather be here.

in May i spent 5 days here on the island of St John in the US Virgin Islands. it was heaven partly because of the location and partly because of the company i was in. i wanna go back & i will someday, but until that someday comes i visit often in my mind.
********
i hope you all have a place in your mind that you can escape to when needed.

Blogger’s Quilt Festival

this is the quilt that i have picked to share with you for Amy’s Blogger’s Quilt Festival. i have never shown this quilt on my blog before because i made it prior to even starting a blog. i made this quilt about 3 years ago when my SIL was pregnant with my 1st niece. my SIL is a HUGE butterfly fan & when they picked the theme of the nursery and it was pink & browns with cute little bugs in the bedding print i knew i had to make this quilt for them.

the pattern is all done in brights but that just wasn’t going to work for a little girl so i head to the Buggy Barn when i was in Spokane for the weekend and picked from their Sherbet line of fabric & started on this quilt. the background is all pieced squares & the butterflies & bugs are all appliqued on. i used my machine to do the applique and i love it. this quilt is hanging over the changing table in my niece’s room and she knows that ‘aunt anna’ made that for her.

totally love this pic of her.

of course she is bigger now and the joy of our lives.

********

the great thing about this quilt is that my brother & SIL are expecting another girl in March & so my new niece will get to share in the butterfly quilt as well. i can only hope that this quilt will be one of those that will get past on to the babies of future generations. as i type this i am beginning to wonder if i put a label on it or not. i will have to check with my SIL & if not that will get add to the to do list.

********

i hope you have enjoyed this quilt as much as i have & make sure & check out the other quilts over at Amy’s Creative Side for the Blogger’s Quilt Festival.
